Troopers of the Assam Rifles recovered 153 grams Heroin and detained two individuals at Chite area of Aizawl in Mizoram on Sunday.

Based on specific information, an operation was carried out by a joint team of the Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles and Excise & Narcotics Department.

The approximate cost of the recovered contraband item is estimated to be around Rs. 68, 85,000.

The ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’ have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram.
