Mizoram: 89-Year Old Woman With Mobility Issues Killed in Devastating Fire

A devastating fire broke out at around 3:30 PM on Saturday at Mizoram IOC Veng, Vairengte, claiming the life of an 89-year-old woman, Pi Lali and completely destroying two houses.

The homes, owned by P Chhuana and Thangmawii were engulfed in flames after the fire started in Chhuana’s residence and quickly spread to the neighbouring house.

At the time of the incident, four families lived in the two homes, but all the residents were away at work. Pi Lali, who had mobility issues, was the only person inside and tragically could not escape.

She perished in the fire, and her funeral is scheduled for noon today.

As flames engulfed the homes, neighbours rushed to the scene and worked tirelessly to control the fire.

Although they were unable to save the two houses, their efforts prevented the blaze from spreading to other nearby buildings.
