East Siang Ato-Dorne Farmers’ Association, or Mithun Owners’ Association, is organising its 1st general conference, Mithun Mela, at Mirem village under Bilat circle in Arunachal Pradesh’s East Siang district. The conference is organised in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, National Research Centre on Mithun, Nagaland.
The Mithun Mela was attended by Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering as the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. BN Hazarika, Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat as Guest of Honour and Tayi Taggu, Deputy Commissioner of East Siang district as Special Guest.

The general conference of the Mithun Mela was led by ESADFA President, Allen Perme, and according to him, the main aim of the Mela is to improve the standard of mithun rearing in East Siang district by adopting modern day scientific treatment of foot and mouth diseases and others, including geo-tagging of Mithuns, community fencing of common Mithun shelters, among others.
Three healthy Mithun farmers for calf, cow, and bull categories were also awarded Rs. 10,000 each by the ICAR-NRC Nagaland after inspecting the Mithuns displayed at the contest. Over 60 Mithuns were displayed during the mela.
