In a tragic incident, a father and son duo were fired upon just outside their home by miscreants in the Thoubal district of Manipur. The incident that took place in Heirok killed the son, severely injuring his father.
As per initial reports, the incident happened around midnight on Tuesday, when 20-year old N Rohit and his 53-year-old father N Premchandra woke up to the sounds of firing.
Following this, Rohit reportedly rushed towards the backyard to seek the source of the firing sounds. However, unknown armed miscreants opened fire killing. Upon hearing his son screaming, N Premchandra too rushed to the spot only to be wounded seriously by the miscreants.

It is learned that N Rohit, who was a student of the 3rd semester of Thoubal College, was rushed to the hospital, however, he was declared brought dead by the Medical Officer of Raj-Medicity Hospital.
Worth mentioning here, local sources have indicated that the incident might be Pre-Poll violence as such instances had taken place in the recent past too.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren Singh while condemning the incident informed that legal investigation into the case has already been initiated.
