Minor girl gang-raped by 6 in Madhya Pradesh

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by six persons, who thrashed her after committing the crime necessitating hospitalisation in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.

Two of the accused persons are minor boys.

According to reports the incident took place in the Naigarhi police station area, about 70 kilometres from the Rewa district headquarters.

As per reports, three persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The district administration has demolished the illegal building structure of the three accused, an official said, adding that the same treatment would be meted out to the three others who were involved in the crime.

The victim and a male friend went to a temple on Saturday afternoon, and while they were talking, four men and two minor boys arrived. They dragged the girl in front of her friend and took her to a location near a body of water where they raped her, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anil Sonkar.

ASP further stated that the accused persons have also thrashed her and took away her mobile phone after raping her and threatened her before fleeing.

An FIR was registered under sections 376 (d) (gangrape), 395 (Punishment for dacoity), and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
