Killing of a single bird will invite a fine of Rs 5,000

With the onset of winters and the new year knocking at the door, migratory birds have descended upon Poskia Pukhuri in Assam’s Udalguri, much to the delight of the people. Locals have taken it upon themselves to protect the area and the delicate ecosystem by imposing fines on the killing of birds. Killing of a single bird will invite a fine of Rs 5,000.
