Assam Rifles and officials of the Special Narcotics Cell of Mizoram Police seized 1 lakh tablets of Methamphetamine worth Rs 33.33 crore from Thuampui neighbourhood in Aizawl on Tuesday.
The drugs, also known as ‘Crystal Meth’ or ‘Speed Pills’ were recovered from the suspected individual’s bag. The meth was packed in 10 brown parcels.
The entire consignment of Methamphetamine tablets and the apprehended individual was handed over to Special Narcotics Police Station, CID (Crime), Aizawl for further legal proceedings where criminal cases under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 were registered.
The accused was produced before the special court (ND and PS) Act and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
The seized Methamphetamine tablets were reportedly smuggled from Myanmar.
