Trinamool Congress President for Meghalaya Charles Pyngrope has rebuked the BJP for accusing the TMC of playing the religious card in the state and said that the saffron party should not be taken at face value as it is non-existent in Meghalaya.

It may be mentioned that state BJP president Ernest Mawrie had slammed the All India Trinamool Congress for allegedly trying to make its presence felt in Meghalaya’s political arena on religious lines.

Speaking to the media, Pyngrope also referred to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act registration of the Missionaries of Charity and said that it was not just the MOC account but thousands of accounts that had been frozen. He further added that the lives of many people, including the destitute, were at stake and they could not be kept in the lurch.
