Meghalaya Students Protest Over CUET-UG Exam Centre Allotment Outside State

A large number of candidates from the state have been assigned test centres outside the region, leading to widespread discontent.

The allotment of examination centres for the upcoming Central University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET-UG) has sparked serious concern among students and parents in Meghalaya. A large number of candidates from the state have been assigned test centres outside the region, leading to widespread discontent.

Ryan Jeffrey Lyngdoh, representing the aggrieved students, said that despite applying from Meghalaya, many aspirants discovered that their exam centres are situated in distant locations, far from their home districts. Students from Shillong, Jowai, and other parts of the state have been allotted centres in Assam and even further, which they consider both inconvenient and unjustified.

Lyngdoh stated that this arrangement places an unnecessary burden on the students, making it challenging for them to reach their exam centres on time and potentially affecting their performance. He urged the State Government to intervene and appeal to the National Testing Agency (NTA) to ensure that examination centres are available within the state, reflecting the legitimate needs of the students.

Students have called this situation unfair and requested the authorities to address the issue promptly, stressing the need for a more considerate and student-friendly approach in the allotment of test centres.
