Meghalaya SSLC 2025 Results Out: Records Historic 87.10% Pass Rate

The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) on Saturday declared the results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination 2025, achieving a record-breaking overall pass percentage of 87.10%. This marks a sharp rise from last year’s 55.80%, setting a new benchmark in the state’s academic history.
This year, 63,682 students appeared for the examination held from February 10 to 25. Out of them, 55,473 students successfully cleared the exam. Among the pass-outs, 32,747 were girls, while 22,726 were boys. A total of 36,570 candidates passed all six subjects, while 18,903 cleared five subjects.
The significant increase in student turnout compared to last year’s 54,134 candidates is being attributed to the removal of the Selection Test. A similar spike was last witnessed in 2021 when authorities had cancelled the Selection Test due to the pandemic.
In a major development, the number of Top 20 Rank Holders surged to 85, more than double last year’s 37. The list featured an inspiring mix of students from both urban and rural schools, with many sharing positions on the merit list.
The results also showed a sharp rise in overall school performance. As many as 341 schools recorded a 100% pass rate, compared to 180 schools last year, reflecting the overall academic improvement across Meghalaya.
Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma praised the efforts of educators, administrators, and students. He credited the improved performance to the introduction of a new question pattern and the rollout of the CM IMPACT Guidebook, which served as a crucial resource for students lacking access to standard study materials.
“The CM IMPACT Guidebook and the revised question pattern have proven to be instrumental in transforming student performance across the state,” the Minister stated.
For the first time, MBOSE will also conduct a Supplementary Examination within the same academic year. The exam is scheduled for late April 2025, and all students who failed in one or more subjects will automatically qualify to appear. MBOSE will release the detailed guidelines for the supplementary exam next week.
