Unsatisfied with the government releasing a portion of the pending salaries the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan teachers of Meghalaya has vowed to carry on their stir. They have warned of further agitation if their demands are not fulfilled by January 14, 2022.
The government had released salaries two months salaries with dues for almost three months still pending.
President of the Meghalaya SSA Teachers Association, Aristotle Rymbai said that although the state government has released pending salaries for the months of August and September, but the agitating teachers are still facing immense hardships in their day-to-day lives.
Rymbai demanded the release of all the pending dues of the teachers till December 2021. The SSA teachers are also demanding disbursing of additional funds amounting to 104 Cr which is allegedly still lying with the Government for the last three years.
He also said that the letter campaign to the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Education Minister Lakhmen Rymbui will also continue till 14 January 2022.
Besides, the SSA teachers have also cautioned the Government of staging a Black flag sit-in demonstration and a candlelight vigil on 21 January 2022, if their demands are not fulfilled.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
