Kharlukhi threatened to file defamation case against anyone who wrongfully tried to accuse him of corruption charges.

Dr. WR Kharlukhi, Rajya Sabha MP from Meghalaya today came down heavily on a YouTuber for allegedly accusing him of corruption in the implementation of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) in the state.

The Rajya Sabha MP has also filed an FIR with the cyber crime police station against the YouTuber RS Kharbani and said that he is very transparent and open to any investigation any time.

He said that he is ready to go to jail if anyone comes with proof of corruption and if proven guilty, he will resign from politics and as Rajya Sabha MP.

He said that he does not believe in social media as it acts as a negative vulture that feeds on a negative carcass, however he will write to the State Government demanding CBI enquiry into this.

Regarding the scheme, Kharlukhi said that he started getting the MP scheme for 2022-2023 as there was no scheme given during the Covid-19 pandemic. But for 2023–2024, the system was changed. The district authorities and BDOs received the scheme directly from the parliament, not the rural development department in Delhi.

Kharlukhi claimed that there was nothing to hide, saying that he has executed the entire Rs 5 crore MP scheme approved for 2022–2023 while the recipients of the 2024 scheme have also now reached the beneficiaries. The delay was due to the 18th Lok Sabha elections.

He further threatened to file defamation case against anyone who wrongfully tried to accuse him of corruption charges.
