Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong who is also in charge of PWD Roads, convened a crucial meeting with the respective Deputy Commissioners and issued directives to expedite the land acquisition procedures and initiate necessary measures to overcome the obstacles. The advancement of the Dainadubi-Darugre-Williamnagar road project, spanning over 70 kilometers, has been delayed due to land acquisition and forest clearance issues.

Highlighting the significance of efficient project execution, deputy CM Tynsong emphasized the need to kickstart the land acquisition process.

The Dainadubi-Darugre-Williamnagar road project, sanctioned under the prestigious Bharatmala initiative, holds substantial potential for infrastructure enhancement and regional connectivity. The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has been entrusted with the responsibility of its successful completion.

Elaborating further, Prestone Tynsong revealed that the tendering process for the Dainadubi-Darugre-Williamnagar road project is nearing its conclusion. Concurrently, NHIDCL is also engaged in the repair and rehabilitation of specific sections of the Shillong-Dawki road, signifying the comprehensive efforts aimed at upgrading the state’s road infrastructure.

“The tendering process for Package 1 of the Shillong-Dawki road is in its final stages and will be issued shortly. Meanwhile, Package 2, Package 3, and Package 4 are currently undergoing technical scrutiny, followed by the financial evaluation,” stated Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.
