Meghalaya Polls 2023: Mukul, James, Mawrie, Pyngrope, Shullai, Zenith, Hek, Mawthoh file nominations

Several key political leaders including Conrad Sangma’s brother and Meghalaya minister James Sangma, former CM Mukul Sangma filed their papers today

It was a hectic day across poll-bound Meghalaya as some of the key political leaders from across parties filed nominations today ahead of the polls on February 27.
Meghalaya TMC president Charles Pyngrope was among the first leaders to reach the DC office in Shillong to file his nomination papers.
The former Congress leader is contesting from Nongthymmai constituency.
Former Meghalaya CM and TMC leader Mukul Sangma filed his nomination papers in Williamnagar in East Garo hills. He filed the papers for the Songsak constituency. The former Congress leader is also contesting from Tikrikilla.
Mukul Sangma’s wife and TMC candidate Dikancchi D Shira filed her nomination paper. She is contesting from Mahendraganj, the seat she won in 2018.
Zenith Sangma, brother of Mukul Sangma also filed his papers today. He would be contesting from Rangsakona. He has won the seat in 2003, 2013 and 2018.
James Sangma, NPP leader and Meghalaya Cabinet minister filed his papers today. James who is the brother of Meghalaya CM and NPP national president Conrad Sangma is contesting from Dadenggre constituency.
Meghalaya BJP president Ernest Mawrie filed his papers for the West Shillong constituency. Union Minister Jitendra Singh accompanied Mawrie for the filing of the papers in Shillong.
BJP leader and another political heavyweight of the state, Sanbor Shullai filed his papers for the South Shillong seat. He has been winning the seat since 2013.
A political veteran and former Meghalaya health minister, BJP leader AL Hek filed his papers today. He would be contesting from the Pynthorumkhrah constituency. He has been an MLA since 1998.
UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh filed his papers for the Nongthymmai constituency.
Meghalaya TMC Candidate Sadhiarani M Sangma, from Gambegre who filed her nomination today.
BJP’s Ronjeng candidate Raphious Sangma also filed his papers today. He was the former area commander of banned outfit GNLA (Garo National Liberation Army).
Congress’s Williamnagar candidate Deborah C Marak also filed her papers today. She had won the seat in 2013.

PDF chief and party candidate from Mawkynrew Banteidor Lyngdoh also filed his nomination in Shillong today.
