As incidents of vandalism and arson are being reported from different parts of the capital city of Shillong, the Meghalaya government has decided to extend the curfew till 5 am on August 18.
The ban on internet services has also been extended for 24 more hours.
The Conrad Sangma-led government’s order to conduct a judicial inquiry into the encounter of former HNLC general secretary Cheristerfield Thangkiew was among the crucial decisions taken by the Meghalaya Cabinet on Monday.
Moreover, a peace committee has also been constituted under Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong to engage with the community leaders and civil society organizations to restore complete normalcy.
