Sensation prevailed in Meghalaya’s East Jainti Hills district following a blast at the police reserve in Khliehriat during the wee hours of Wednesday. Khliehriat is about 90 km from Shillong.
As per initial reports the blast was triggered by an IED planted in the premises of the police reserve.
While no casualty or injury was reported in the incident, police quarter adjacent to the blast site was partially damaged. A wall of a building in the police reserve campus was damaged.
Confirming the incident, State Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said that the probe into the matter is underway.
