Meghalaya: Heavy Rainfall Kills 3 in West Garo Hills, CM Urges Residents To Stay Alert

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is closely monitoring the situation and has informed that the SDRF has been activated already to tide with the crisis.

There seems to be no let up in the weather conditions in the entire Northeast, as the region is experiencing incessant rainfall since the past 2-3 days. Conditions worsened in Meghalaya’s Garo Hills, as 3 persons lost their lives in West Garo Hills District due to floods and landslides. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is closely monitoring the situation and has informed that the SDRF has been activated already to tide with the crisis. The Chief Minister also informed that the NDRF from Guwahati has been requisitioned by the West Garo Hills district administration. Besides, the SDRF Shillong has been sent to Tura as standby.
