Keeping pace with the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Meghalaya government is enhancing its capabilities to handle the situation effectively. Health Minister AL Hek on Friday inaugurated a 68 bed Covid Care Centre at TB Hospital, Umsawli in Shillong.
Talking to newsmen, Health Minister AL Hek said that the state is witnessing a spike in COVID-19 cases and is heading towards community spread. He emphasized the need for more such Centres in order to accommodate more patients.
Hek further added that the state government is identifying more places to build additional Covid Care Centres. To a query, whether the state government has failed in proper assessment of the COVID-19 situation, the Health Minister said that they are assessing the current situation.
Hek made it clear that if Meghalaya faces community spread, dealing with the situation should not be a problem as the state boasts of a strong team of health workers.
Doctors and health workers are working hard day in and out to contain and control the spread of the virus, Hek said.
