Meghalaya govt recommends names of Pradip Kurbah, Dominic Sangma for representing state at Cannes Film Festival

The Meghalaya government has recommended the names of two prominent filmmakers of the state – Pradip Kurbah and Dominic Sangma to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to represent the state in the Cannes Film festival to be held from May 16-27 in Cannes.

However, as per reports the names of Pradip and Dominic are yet to be finalised by the I& B ministry.

Pradip Kurbah has won 3 National Awards – first in 2013 for Ri- Homeland of Uncertainty – Best feature film in Khasi, in 2015 he won the National Award for Onaatah – Best feature film in Khasi and again in 2021 his film Iewduh won the National Award in 2 categories – Best Khasi Film and Best Audiography.

Dominic Sangma’s film Ma-Ama is the first film in Garo language and the only Indian film to be selected in the international competition section of the Jio MAMI Film Festival, 2018.
