Meghalaya Govt Launches Verification Process to Tackle Unrecognized Schools in the State
Meghalaya has nearly 500 unrecognized schools operating across the state, despite these institutions possessing UDISE codes. The issue, rooted in legacy practices where government documents were issued without strict regulatory compliance, has now come under scrutiny. Director of School Education and Literacy, Swapnil Tembe, highlighted that the Government of India has directed states to address concerns regarding unrecognized schools. A verification process is underway to assess whether these institutions meet the necessary infrastructure and academic requirements for official recognition.
