The Meghalaya government has maintained that there is a need to sit with the centre together for a tripartite talks on the issue of banned militant outfit Hynniewtrep National liberation Council or HNLC.
The HNLC had recently offered to hold political dialogue with the Centre and the state government but maintained that they will not surrender first. In reply, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said that they need to shun violence first.
Giving a status update of the offer, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the state government is serious about the matter and as it is not just a state subject so the government needs to sit with the Centre so that tripartite talks can take place at the earliest.
