Meghalaya: Conrad Sangma Govt 2.0 to have 12 cabinet ministers. Details here

Of the total 12, four ministers will be from Garo Hills, 8 from Khasi-Jaintia hills, the alliance will be known as MDA 2.0

The Conrad Sangma-led Meghalaya government that will be sworn in tomorrow will have 11 ministers and the Chief Minister, a total strength of 12, same as the last term. There would be eight ministers from the NPP, two from UDP and one each from the BJP and the HSPDP, Conrad Sangma, CM designate, said today.
Further elaborating, Sangma who would be sworn in for the second consecutive term as Meghalaya CM said that out of these 12 cabinet ministers, 4 of them including Chief Minister will be from the Garo Hills region and 8 of the cabinet ministers will be from the Khasi-Jaintia hills region.
Briefing the media, CM designate Conrad Sangma said, “This is the format of sharing the cabinet berths. And of these 12 cabinet berths 4 of them including Chief Minister will be from the Garo Hills region and 8 of the cabinet ministers will be from the Khasi-Jaintia hills region.”
The berths were decided at the meeting that Conrad Sangma had with all the alliance partners – UDP, BJP, HSPDP, PDF and the two independent MLAs.
The alliance partners decided to name the alliance as MDA 2.0.
Sangma said, “We had the first meeting of the alliance and the first decision taken in the meeting was to call this alliance as the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance 2.0, which is the second part of the first MDA alliance. So all unanimously agreed that we should call this alliance Meghalaya Democratic Alliance 2.0. as the partners are the same.”
Conrad Sangma further added, “Also we have passed a resolution regarding the candidature of the Speaker’s post. So NPP has proposed the name and they have entrusted me to speak to the rest of the coalition partners to formalize the name. Once I speak to the coalition partners and get the consent we will be announcing the name of the candidate for the Speaker’s post.”
The meeting also decided that the Chairman of the MDA 2.0 will be the Chief Minister.
