Assam-Meghalaya border talks: Meghalaya Congress seeks special session

Meghalaya CLP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh has demanded that the state government must not sign on to any agreement on the border issue or submit any signatories to the Centre until due diligence has been initiated with all the stakeholders. Lyngdoh said people would be confused if this was not done.

The senior Congress leader’s statement comes at a time when the Cabinets of both Assam and Meghalaya have approved the reports submitted by the respective regional committees.

Lyngdoh, however, admitted that the move by the two state governments of Assam and Meghalaya was a big milestone.

The CLP leader, however, said that the government should place the findings of the regional committees in the public domain first.
