Meghalaya CM felicitates over 1170 sports achievers across state

CM informed that the idea of felicitating and recognizing the achievements of the youth is to project them as icons and motivators for others.
Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Monday felicitated over 1170 Sports Achievers of Meghalaya Games 2024 and Khelo India Youth Games 2024 and handed over cheques worth Rs. 88.63 Lakhs.
The felicitation function was held at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong.
Speaking during the felicitation function, Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, congratulating the achievers said that the achievements and the laurels brought to the state needs to be celebrated.
He further informed that the idea of felicitating and recognizing the achievements of the youth is to project them as icons and motivators for others.
“There were challenges but every year we are ensuring that the games become better and we overcome the challenges,” he added.
Taking to X, Chief M inister Conrad Sangma wrote, “Immensely proud to felicitate over 1170 Sports Achievers from across the state who won across disciplines in the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024 held in Tura.”
“Glad that as a Government we are able to keep the promise of incentivizing our sportspersons which is a big encouragement for their efforts and skills they exemplified during the Games. Today we handed over cheques worth ₹88.63 Lakhs to our Sports Achievers, Coaches and winners of the 6th Khelo India Youth Games”, he added.
“The award is more than an incentive to our sportspersons and it is an encouragement to them to be role model to others and I encourage the Sports Achievers today to inspire other youngsters in their community towards positive things in life. The Meghalaya Games is our way of bringing out the talent and skill of our youth so that they see their potential and are motivated to work on themselves to achieve great things and bring accolades to their state and their country”, Conrad tweeted.
Earlier, Minister, Sports & Youth Affairs, Shakliar Warjri reminded the athletes to use the Cash Award wisely to further their skill and talent in the Sports they have excelled.
