Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma seeks support of coalition partners for South Tura bypoll

Ahead of the all important August 23 South Tura bypoll, Conrad Sangma led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance had a meeting yesterday with its coalition partners to discuss the upcoming by election.

Assuring of an intact coalition, Mr Sangma said that he himself made an official appeal
to all the coalition partners for support and a few of the mentioned coalition partners are still in discussion with their regional members as some of the local leaders have expressed their desire to contest the elections.
Speaking about his own campaign, the chief minister said that he will soon be leaving for Garo Hills to start the campaign.
Meanwhile, when questioned about the Ranikor by-poll where the MDA coalition are going against each other, Mr Sangma said that every political party is independent and it is only natural for them to prioritize their self interest.
He further maintained that it won’t be affecting the coalition as seen in the Williamnagar by polls.
