Meghalaya: AHAM submits memorandum to CM Conrad Sangma for pathetic condition of roads in North Garo Hills

The Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) from Kharkutta in North Garo Hills has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma urging him to look into the repair of various roads in the district.

According to the organization, the deplorable condition of the various roads has mostly affected the student community and the businessmen from the area.

Some of the deplorable roads mentioned by the organization in the memorandum included the Kharkutta Bazar PWD road, Kharkutta Rewansing to Block road, Megam A’kong road, Baghabatta bazaar to Do’singkol road, Lower Rongbu and Kentra PWD road etc.

As per the organization, students from the area who traverse to their respective schools and colleges on two wheelers are facing immense difficulties due to the bad roads and sometimes end up in road mishaps.

Further, the deplorable road condition has also affected the income of banana farmers who once used bicycles to transport their produce but now have to hire heavier vehicles to ferry the same to Daranggre market.

The organization, in its memorandum, has called on Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to sanction funds as well as to direct concerned departments to take steps to repair the damaged roads at the earliest, to ease the difficulties faced by the people from the area.
