Para military troopers have launched a massive manhunt to track down 8 to 10 member ULFA Independent hit squad in the deep jungles of Arunachal Pradesh following intelligence inputs that the rebels are planning strikes on security forces and vital installations.
The massive counter insurgency operations by Assam Rifles soldiers are currently on in and around the Manabhum reserve forest in Changlang district of Eastern Arunachal Pradesh. The troops are trying to bring the rebels, led by self-styled ULFA-I commander Mriganko Asom under its net, sources said.
The ULFA hit squad is believed to be carrying sophisticated weaponary and improvised explosive devices by using which they are planning to trigger blasts.
The Namsai district administration has issued an advisory for the public, banning entry to the location.
Namsai DC C. R. Khampa, in the advisory, has stated that in the wake of Assam Rifles carrying out the operation, villagers should not enter the reserve forest, nor should they carry any kind of arms or ammunition. Wearing of camouflage by civilians has also been banned and civilians have been asked to carry valid I-D cards or Aadhar cards for identification.
