A massive scandal involving embezzlement of food grains under the National Food Security Act by a Co-operative Secretary has come to fore from Assam’s Cachar district. After receiving reports regarding misappropriation of huge quantities of rice, Cachar District Food and Supplies Department conducted a raid at the Co-operative society’s office and godown in Sona-bari-ghat under Sonai Constituency in Cachar district. During the raid the team seized huge quantities of rice which were siphoned off by the Co-operative Secretary for his own benefits.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
