Martyred in an anti-terror operation in Kashmir, Tripura’s Sudip Sarkar conferred ‘Kirti Chakra’ posthumously

Sudip Sarkar, a Border Security Force (BSF) constable from Tripura who was martyred during an anti-terror operation in Kashmir in 2020 was conferred with ‘Kirti Chakra’ posthumously, India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award.

at the Defence Investiture Ceremony- 2023 held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday, May 9.

It may be mentioned here that Sarkar was jawan of the 169 Bn BSF. He was the part of a patrol-cum-Ambush team along the Anti-Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS) on the LoC, Kupwara, Kashmir in 2020.

He was martyred while fighting against terrorist in Kashmir on the intervening night of 07/08 November, 2020. Despite having bullet and grenade blast injuries has also killed one terrorist during the battle.

Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister Manik Saha said, “The courage and gallantry displayed by the BSF constable in the line of duty will continue to inspire all.”
