Manipur Violence: Policeman shot dead in Kangpokpi

The situation is volatile in Manipur once again, with at least three deaths reported yesterday in separate gunfights.

While a policeman was shot dead while on duty in the Leimakhong area of Kangpokpi district during an encounter with armed men, at least two deaths were also reported in another incident of a gunfight along Imphal West, Kangpokpi border, yesterday morning. The policeman was killed in the gun battle at Bethel Village last evening. Prior to this, L. Tangnaum, L. Munlai, and Bethel villages also witnessed gunfights early in the morning, in which two casualties were reported. The deceased policeman has been identified as Head Constable Lenglam Dimngel from Kangpokpi District Police. His mortal remains were brought to SP Office Kangpokpi at around midnight.
