Manipur unrest: Public detains 4 MLAs from Sugnu demanding shifting of Assam Rifles camp

The MLAs have been identified as U Deben, M Rameshwar and Y Radheshyam of the BJP and local Congress legislator K Ranjit
As many as 4 MLAs, 3 from the ruling BJP and one from Opposition Congress who had visited Sugnu have been allegedly detained by the public demanding shifting of the Assam Rifles camp from the area.
Minister Y Kemchand who was accompanying the MLA delegation was apparently allowed to go to convey the demand for shifting of the AR camp to Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The MLAs have been identified as U Deben, M Rameshwar and Y Radheshyam of the BJP and local Congress legislator RK Ranjit.
The team was deputed to the area to take stock of the situation and enquire about the well-being of local residents.
As per reports, the escort team accompanying the MLAs was also not allowed to leave the area.
The public detained the MLA’s at the Mahila Congress building in Sugnu market.
It may be mentioned that Sugnu has been witnessing unrest for the past few days with incidents of arson and firing reported from the area.
