Manipur unrest: Delegation of I.N.D.I.A MPs meet Governor Anusiya Uikey

The 20-member delegation was on a 2-day visit to the state and visited various relief camps to take stock of situation
The opposition MPs hailing from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance or I.N.D.I.A called on Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at the Raj Bawan in Imphal today before leaving for Delhi.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey, and requested her to restore peace & harmony, by taking all effective measures.
“”We earnestly request you to restore peace and harmony taking all effective measures, where justice should be the cornerstone. In order to bring peace and harmony, rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected persons is most urgent. You are also requested to apprise the Union Government of the complete breakdown of law and order in Manipur for the last 89 days so as to enable them to intervene in the precarious situation in Manipur to restore peace and normalcy,” the memorandum reads.
During the deliberations the Governor has also recommended the delegation to hold talks with the community leaders in a bid to bring permanent peace.
This was informed by Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Adhir Ranjan Choudhury after the meeting.
He said, “During this 2-day visit whatever we could assess was raised with the Governor, she too has expressed same opinion with the issues which we discussed with her.
She has recommended us to have talks with leaders of the communities in conflcit and explore ways to bring peace and tranquility. She also recommended that an all party delegation must come to Manipur and speak to leaders of both the communities.”
“We spoke in details and after that the Governor has appealed everyone to join hands for restoring peace and make all out efforts for this purpose,” the Congress leader further said.
Adhir Ranjan Choudhury also added that the Manipur will be raised appropriately in the Floor of the Parliament.
The MPs from 15 opposition parties had yesterday visited relief camps in Churachandpur and Imphal and interacted with the people including children taking shelter in the camps.
