Manipur Sees Highest-Ever Deployment of IPS Officers with 16 Appointed to the Strife-torn State
A record number of 16 IPS officers from the 2024 batch have been deputed to Manipur marking the highest-ever posting of IPS officers to the state in a single year. This gains significance given the current situation in Manipur. The step is aimed at strengthening the administrative machinery and improving on-ground policing, as well as intelligence coordination in the state, according to sources. The scale of this year’s deployment stands in stark contrast to previous years. According to reports, in 2018 no officers were deputed, in 2019, 2 officers were deputed, in 2020, 1 officer was deputed and in 2021, 3 officers were deputed.
