Manipur: Rockets, Mortars, and Grenades Seized in Security Sweep

Police have stated that the weapons were seized to prevent potential conflicts in these areas, and further investigations are underway.

Manipur Police seized rockets, mortars and country-made grenades during a search operation conducted on October 29 in Churachandpur district.

The Manipur Police in a press release said that four rockets – two approximately 8 feet long, and, two around 7 feet along with two large country-made mortars, one medium-sized mortar, three improvised mortar bombs, a radio set, and two country-made grenades were seized during the operation, carried out in Panjang village in the upper reaches of Thangjing ridge in Churachandpur district.

“Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts,” the police release said.

Police have stated that the weapons were seized to prevent potential conflicts in these areas, and further investigations are underway to determine the origins and intended use of the weapons.

The Police described the situation in the state as tense but under control and urged the people not to believe in rumours and be awre of false videos. They once again appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives.
