The Congress is working on plans to stitch a pre-poll alliance with like-minded parties for the upcoming Manipur Polls. However, the party is yet to take a final call on the alliance partners.
The Congress is also considering the number of candidates to be fielded for the ensuing assembly elections, a call on which is expected to be taken after the alliance issue gets finalised.
A crucial election committee meeting of the Manipur Congress was held today in Imphal in which the strategy for the upcoming pools was discussed, MPCC working president K Meghalchandra informed. Meanwhile, former Congress MLA Kh Ratankumar rubbished reports of him deserting the party.
Ratankumar informed that there were a few internal issues that he had raised with the high command. However, the former Congress MLA maintained that there was no plan to leave the party.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
