Manipur politician arrested in alleged drug syndicate

Police arrested Jadumani and one of his Assam accomplices Majnu Miah, while they were on their way to Dimapur.

Drugs, Kidnapping, and Politics, three seem to be synonymous with Kangabam Jadu Singh, an aspiring Politician, who contested in the recent 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections from Wangkhem on a JD (U) ticket.

However, his latest endeavor turned sideways after Manipur Police busted an inter-state drug syndicate and arrested 3 individuals including Jadu Singh while he was on his way to Dimapur.

As per police reports, a team of Imphal West Commando intercepted a vehicle at Meitei Lamkhai on Monday, upon searching, police recovered over 88 thousand WY tablets worth over Rupees 4 Crore, two vehicles, and over Rupees 1 lakh 40 thousand in cash. Subsequently, the driver revealed that the recovered narcotic items belong to Jadu Singh.

Following up on the information, police arrested Jadumani and one of his Assam accomplices Majnu Miah, while they were on their way to Dimapur.

It needs to be mentioned here that Jadu Singh was also allegedly involved in a kidnapping case earlier.

According to preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the accused persons were part of an inter-state drug syndicate.

The arrested persons and the seized items have been handed over to Singjamei Police Station and an FIR has been lodged.
