A Manipur police team came under attack today as armed miscreants triggered 3 to 4 blasts and opened fire on the team at Moreh. One policeman injured in the attack has been shifted to the Assam Rifles hospital. He is said to be out of danger.

The police team was on duty in Moreh when they were attacked by a group of armed miscreants. The identity of the group behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.

The Assam Rifles, BSF and Rapid Action Force have launched an operation in Moreh to nab the perpetrators.

It may be mentioned here that earlier in October a similar attack took place in Moreh in which a DSP was killed.

Post today’s incident, questions like who are these armed men? How are they operating inside the border town are being asked.

The attack comes at a time when Chief Minister N Biren Singh is calling for complete restoration of peace in the state.

Earlier today, CM Biren Singh informed that collection of biometrics is underway at many places including Ukhrul and Moreh to detect illegal migrants.
