In a major breakthrough, Manipur police in a joint operation with the central armed forces personnel seized multiple weapons, ammunition, drugs and cash from Myanmar-based militant group CKLA, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said.
Based on specific inputs, the joint team launched a search operation at Lamjang village in Churachandpur district today and seized the arms, ammunition, drugs and cash.
The seized weapons include–one 40mm grenade launcher, one 12mm Rifle (Local Made), two 40mm Grenade (Police Ammunition), one 40mm Grenade Launcher (Local Made) and two 40mm Grenade (Local Made). Opium weighing about 2.5 kg, Rs 4,86,500 cash and various other items were also recovered from the group.
The seized weapons and ammunition have been handed over to Singhat Police Station for further investigation.
