Manipur Police Arrest 9 Militants, Including Members of KCP-PWG, KCP-Noyon and UNLF-PambeiInvolved in Extortion and Kidnapping

Another four members of the Kangleipak Communist Party-Noyon (KCP-Noyon) were arrested from Chingdompok in Thoubal district.

Manipur Police have arrested nine militants involved in widespread extortion targeting government officials, businesses, and the general public. Acting on specific intelligence, security forces conducted multiple operations across the state, leading to the arrests.

Four active members of the Kangleipak Communist Party-Progressive War Group (KCP-PWG) were apprehended from Khabeisoi in Imphal East. They were allegedly extorting money from government officials, petrol pumps, and civilians.

Another four members of the Kangleipak Communist Party-Noyon (KCP-Noyon) were arrested from Chingdompok in Thoubal district.

The arrested were reportedly engaged in kidnapping and extortion activities in Thoubal.

Additionally, one active member of the United National Liberation Front-Pambei (UNLF-Pambei) was arrested from Tera Makhong in Imphal East. He was allegedly involved in extortion and arms transportation in and around Imphal. Police recovered a .32 pistol loaded with three live rounds from his possession.

Authorities have intensified operations against militant groups to curb extortion-related crimes in the state.
