Manipur NPP MLA Noorul Hassan Attacked by Mob; Shots Fired

The attack took place around 9:20 PM near Khergao Yumkhaibam Leikai, close to Khergao Junior High School.

In a serious security incident, a mob allegedly attacked the convoy of the NPP MLA Noorul Hassan of Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency on Saturday, while he was returning to his residence along with his escort party and family members. The attack took place around 9:20 PM near Khergao Yumkhaibam Leikai, close to Khergao Junior High School.

According to reports, the MLA and his team were on their way back home after having dinner at the residence of his sister when the mob suddenly ambushed them by pelting stones and firing several rounds at the convoy. In response, the MLA’s escort team also fired a few rounds to disperse the crowd and control the situation.

The violent clash left several individuals injured, who were immediately rushed to JNIMS Hospital, Porompat, for medical treatment. Additionally, some vehicles were reported to be partially damaged during the incident.

Porompat Police Station has taken up a suo moto case under FIR No. 77(4)2025 PRT-PS under Sections 191(2)/191(3)/190/117(2)/324(4)/109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Section 25(1-B)A of the Arms Act. Authorities have begun a thorough investigation into the matter to identify and apprehend those involved in the attack.
