Bodies of 2 more persons who lost their lives in the devastating landslide at Tupul in Manipur’s Noney district has been recovered.

This is a big development after rescue and search operations were called off 3 days ago.

According to the police, the deceased persons have been identified as Chunthu-iliu Gondai-mei and her minor daughter Jian thaoliu Gondai-mei.

The body parts were found while the railway department was carrying out excavation works to exhume buried machineries and construction materials.

This takes the total number of bodies recovered to 59, while 2 others still remain missing.

The landslide which occurred in the wee hours of June 30 saw recovery of 56 bodies till the search operations were officially called off with 5 missing.
