Manipur is like an elegant garland: PM Modi at Sangai Festival Concluding Event

A host of foreign dignitaries including the Consul General of US, France, ambassadors and high commissioners of Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand Myanmar, Thailand and Brunei attend the concluding day’s functions.
“Manipur Sangai Festival highlights the spirit and passion of the people of Manipur. Manipur is exactly like an elegant garland where one can witness a mini India in the state,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said addressing the Sangai Festival today, the concluding day of the mega event.
“Sangai is not only the state animal of Manipur but also has a special place in India’s faith and beliefs. The Sangai Festival also celebrates the biodiversity of India”, the Prime Minister said. He further added that it also celebrates India’s cultural and spiritual ties with nature. The Prime Minister addressing the Festival virtually, also said that the festival inspires indispensable social sensitivity towards a sustainable lifestyle. “When we make nature, animals and plants a part of our festivals and celebrations, then co-existence becomes a natural part of our life”, he said.
Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju attented the concluding day’s functions.
Sharing pictures from the festival, Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu Tweeted, “The culture of Manipur is rich, vibrant and beautiful.
Delighted to have attended Manipur Sangai festival 2022 at Imphal along Hon Union Shri @KirenRijiju Ji and Hon MLA Shri Phurpa Tsering Ji.”
Said to be the grandest festival in the state, the Manipur Sangai Festival helps in promoting Manipur as a world-class tourism destination. The festival is named after the state animal, Sangai, the brow-antlered deer found only in Manipur.
A major attraction of the concluding day’s event was the ramp walk by India first Miss Universe and Bollywood actor Sushmita Sen for Manipuri designer Robert Naorem.

The 10-day 11th Sangai Festival 2022 was held in 13 locations across the state. Earlier, Bollywood actress and Miss universe 2000 Lara Dutta walked the ramp as the showstopper for designer Robert Naorem.
