Manipur Horror: 7th accused arrested, hunt on for the rest

Manipur Police arrested one more accused in the horrific Manipur viral video case taking the total number of arrests so far to 7, even as the manhunt for the others seen in the shameful video continues.

Manipur Police made the first arrest on July 20 when it nabbed Huirem Herodas Singh said to be the main accused in the case. After this, five more arrests were made including a juvenile.

On July 21, three arrests were made and the fifth accused, a 19-year-old youth, was arrested on July 22.

On Monday (July 24), the Manipur police tweeted, “Seven accused persons including one juvenile arrested/apprehended in the viral video case. As regard to the viral video of two women on May 4, 2023, another accused was arrested today. Altogether, seven accused persons including one juvenile have been arrested/ apprehended in the case so far.”

The State police are making an all-out effort to arrest the remaining culprits by conducting raids at many suspected hide-outs, it added.

Earlier, Chief Minister N Biren Singh also assured that the state government will put all its effort to ensure that the accused receive the highest capital punishment.

Angry women had burnt the house of the main accused Huirem Herodas, after he was arrested.
