The Manipur Government has recommended to the HRD ministry that Manipur University Vice Chancellor A P Pandey be asked to go on leave in view of the ongoing agitation and also urged setting up of a high level inquiry committee to look into the allegations against the VC.
The letter added that during the inquiry period, the HRD may consider appointment of a pro vice chancellor for the time being. This was communicated in a letter written by state Chief Secretary J Suresh Babu to the Secretary, department of Higher Education Ministry of HRD on July 10.
