Four senior police officials were put under suspension for their alleged involvement in the Manipur missing arms case. Among those put under suspension is an IPS officer.
The four have been put under immediate suspension for their alleged role in the case. Among the arrested officials are Faumei Gonglin, SP Kamjong District and Manipur PoliceService officers K. Ajitkuamr Sharma, TH Bikramjit Singh and Heisnam Basulal.
The case of missing arms came to light after the new commandant of the 2nd Battalion of Manipur Rilfes ordered an inspection of the existing stock of the arms of 2nd Manipur rifles.
Following inspection it was found that, 56 9mm semi automatic pistols along with 58 magazines were missing. Chief Minister N Biren Singh has already termed the missing arms case as a threat to national security and announced that probe into the matter would be handed over to the NIA.
