The Congress leader demanded that drug cases be handed over to the CBI for effective prosecution and that the true kingpins be arrested

Following the recent arrest of five commando personnel involved in drug trafficking in Manipur’s Kakching district, the state Congress has now demanded the handing over of all drug cases to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Dr Lamtinthang, Vice President of the Manipur Congress, stated that the party has supported the state government’s War on Drugs policy, as well as any other steps taken by the party, as long as they are aimed at saving the people and Manipur’s future.

Lamtinthang questioned whether the state government is serious about fighting drugs and further questioned the police’s involvement in the drug trade.

The Congress leader demanded that drug cases be handed over to the CBI for effective prosecution and that the true kingpins be arrested, even if they are related to a minister.

It is to be mentioned that on January 16, a combined team of District Commando Kakching and Pallel police seized a huge amount of heroin powder and WY drugs worth Rs 3.35 crore and arrested five commando personnel along NH-102 (Imphal-Moreh).
