The Manipur State Congress President, TN Haokip, stated that though the Congress empathises with the people of the state and is equally concerned about the extension of Article 371 (A), it however does not support the ongoing general strike.
He also said that Article 371 (A) should be applicable to the entire northeastern region.
While speaking on the prevailing issues in the state of Manipur like the Manipur University Impasse, Border pillar no 81 and the Naga Framework agreement, the Congress leader slammed the BJP for the ‘mess’ in the state.
While speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, TN Haokip stated that the wrong policies of the Modi and Biren Singh government are responsible for the current disorder in Manipur.
He also made a strong remark and stated that the ‘Modi mentality’ was penetrating into every BJP ruled state in the country.
