Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh laid the foundation stone for the State’s first-ever water amusement park and inaugurated the Likla Leima Leikon at Theng Ngu Chingjin at Awang Potshangbam Khunou in Imphal East district on Friday.

At an estimated cost of Rs. 40 crores, the amusement park will be constructed by the Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd. while Likla Leima Leikon is managed by a local management committee with the assistance from the Directorate of Environment, Government of Manipur.

Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest, Biren Singh said that it has been his long dream to have an amusement park in the State because there is no proper recreational place.

The Chief Minister said that he once tried to develop a waterbody along with the park at Lamphelpat when he was the Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board in 2004. However, it could not be materialized due to different reasons.
