Manipur becomes Covid-free as second patient from state tests negative twice

Manipur has become Covid free after the second patient from the state tested negative twice. Earlier on Saturday, a sample collected from the patient had also tested negative.

The development was confirmed by Chief Minister Biren Singh on his official twitter account.

Following, this development the RIMS Hospital authority, where the patient is undergoing treatment is mulling to discharge the patient.

The 2nd COVID-19 case in Manipur was reported on 1st April, when a 55-year-old man, who took part in the religious congregation at the Nizamuddin Markaz was tested positive for the virus.

With this both the COVID-19 patients in Manipur have recovered and the number of active cases in the State has come down to zero.

Earlier, Manipur’s first COVID-19 case, a girl with travel history to the UK was discharged on April 12 after fully recovering from the disease.

Meanwhile, following this, the Manipur government has decided to exempt a few services amid the second phase of lockdown. This was decided by the state cabinet in pursuance to the new guidelines issued by the Centre.
