Manipur: Attack on security forces continue, Assam Rifles team ambushed at 2 locations, 2 personnel injured; 4th attack in 4 days

The first attack took place at 11.25 am this morning at Sipijang village in Senapati district and the second incident happened at 12.45pm at Lailampat in Churachandpur district
Attack on security forces by armed personnel continue unabated in Manipur. Armed gunmen ambushed and injured two Assam Rifles personnel in Manipur today while in a separate incident, gunmen who fired at another Assam Rifles patrol team escaped when the troops fired back.
This is the fourth incident of attack on security forces by heavily armed gunmen in the trouble-torn state in a week in which one Manipur Police commando was killed and several Assam Rifles troopers and Manipur police commandos were injured.
In the first incident today, unidentified armed personnel opened fire on the area domination patrol team of Assam Rifles at around 11.25 am this morning at Sipijang village in Senapati district. The Assam Rifles team effectively retaliated resulting in the unidentified gunmen running away. Two rifles and some ammunitions were recovered.
In the second incident, a team of Assam Rifles was attacked by a group of unidentified armed personnel at around 12.45pm at Lailampat in Churachandpur district. Two Assam Rifles personnel sustained gunshot wounds and have been evacuated, the Indian Army tweets said. The gun battle is still going on.
Both the attacks happened near forest areas.
Today’s attacks are the third and fourth such incidents in four days.
On May 10, an Assam Rifles jawan was injured when a column of Assam Rifles on area domination was fired upon by some armed miscreants at around 11 am at Dolaithabi (in Imphal East district).
On May 11, one Manipur Police commando died and at least 5 other were injured when they were fired upon by armed gunmen at around 8am in Tronglaobi village in Bishnupur district bordering Churachandpur district of Manipur.
